The Party King of Asgard

The man responsible for the best club in nine realms, amazing alcohol and impeccable service. The watering hole of the Gods.

An important character of in Norse mythology, Aegir was The Norse Ruler of Sea and the froth of beer. Aegir or Ægir was said to be the brewer of the best beer of Nine World.

Known to be the brewer of God’s of Asgard. Aegir’s, his underwater hall was a place where God’s would gather; one condition being they cannot fight there, or they will get banished from Aegir’s hall forever. The God’s and Giants who were always quarreling would act civilized in his hall as he commanded the best beer and mead.

The entrance of this party place was said to be somewhere at the coast of the “Isle of Hlér”, nowadays known as Læsø, which is located in Denmark. Since it was built under the sea no fire would burn inside Aegir’s Hall. Built under the sea the light and warmth were from gold reflections on the floor, decorated with corals, gems and wealth from sunken ships; as Mermaids took care of guest needs. Assisted by his servants Fimafeng and Eldir his hospitality was unmatched as food and drinking horns would refill on its own.

It was one of these grand parties where Loki killed Fimafeng as he was not getting enough attention. The other God's thought of it as a complete disregard and Loki was thrown out and banished from the hall.

All-Father Odin was the one who stamped Aegir’s beer to be the best of all Nine World’s.

Yeah! seems like a perfect party place to me.

Aegir would brew along with his 9 daughters (billow maidens) in the largest kettle ever made. The size of this kettle is usually it was said to be one mile (1.6 km) deep and one mile wide.

As in Hymiskviða from Poetic Edda; after a great feast at the hall of Asgard with such drinking that the cellars ran out of ale. Under the influence of alcohol Thor had a banter with Ægir, accusing him of drinking so much that the cellars have run out and when will he show hospitality by calling the God’s for a grand feast.

Ægir laughed and said that even though his hall is not as great as the halls of Asgard, he would love to host the God’s; the only problem was he did not have a kettle big enough to brew to quench the thirst of the God’s. But Thor, if you can get me a kettle large enough for me to brew then I extend an invitation of a grand feast.

As the conversation went by, it was decided that Thor would go to land of Jotunheim on a mission to acquire a huge kettle from a giant Hymir which was a mile deep and a mile across. Once the kettle was acquired by Thor, he gifted it to Ægir and since then there was no shortage of beer at Ægir’s hall.
