James bond is the most iconic action and spy character in the world. Everything from his Aston Martin, Omega watch, fancy suits and his tipple has been a style statement. Being a big fan of the franchise myself I have tried to pen down all drinks ordered, consumed or mentioned by Bond.
Throughout the screenplay of 24 movies James Bond has ordered numerous drinks conventionally he has always been pointed to a Dry Vodka Martini “Shaken not Stirred” but there is a lot more to it.
For me; it was a fun project going back to all bond movies and some research to find out what Bond kept savoring all this time. So, let’s begin.
Sean Connery (1962-67, 71, 83)
He was the man who laid the steppingstone to the legend and is still one of the most loved actors to feature as bond. Let’s see what he orders.
Dr. No (1962), first time when we saw James Bond with a Dry Vodka Martini, “shaken not stirred”. The cocktail is offered to bond by the villian Dr. No, with Smirnoff as the vodka of choice. It was not till Goldfinger that he uttered the words himself.
He is also seen picking up a bottle of Dom Pérignon to smash.
Dr No.- “That’s a Dom Pérignon ’55, it would be a pity to break it.” Bond says" I prefer the '53 myself.
From Russia with Love (1963) saw bond with Taittinger Blanc de Blancs ’43; which he used to woo Sylvia Trench during their picnic by the river chilling in the river attached to a thread on his foot and also orders during the dinner scene in the train. In the film he is also be seen drinking a Turkish Raki in Istanbul.

James Bond Dr. No and From Russia with Love
Goldfinger (1964) is one of the most famous bond film till date. That iconic Aston Martin DB5, grey suit and most importantly his drinks.
Dom Pérignon ’53 with the famous dialogue to Jill Masterson in his hotel room ; "My dear girl, there are some things that just aren't done. Such as drinking Dom Pérignon '53 above a temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That's as bad as listening to The Beatles without earmuffs."
As he is flown back to Goldfinger’s farm, he orders a Martini, “shaken not stirred” and is later seen enjoying a Mint Julep at the Farm with Goldfinger.

James Bond : Goldfinger
In Thunderball (1965), he is been seen enjoying Rum Collins and also orders “Beluga caviar Dom Pérignon ‘55” for his dinner with Domino just after defeating Largo in the casino in Nassau.
You Only Live Twice (1967) he enjoys Sake when served at correct temperature 98.4 degrees Fahrenheit and is also seen enjoying a Suntory Whisky (shirofuda and old varriants).
Diamonds are Forever (1971) showed us his knack towards fine wine as he orders a Chateau Mouton Rotschild ’55 during his dinner with Tiffany Case.
Never Say Never Again (1983) saw Bond smuggling a case of delicacies which has a bottle of Chateau Cheval Blanc 1982 Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion red wine and a bottle of Absolut Red Label 100 proof vodka.

James Bond: You Only Live Twice and Never Say Never Again
George Lazenby (1969)
He was seen ordering Dom Pérignon ’57 for him and Tracy.
Sir Roger Moore (1973-83)
He has played James Bond in 6 films and has surely upped the liquor game.
Live and Let Die (1973) saw the entry of Bollinger in James Bond movies as he orders a slightly chilled Bollinger in his San Moniquan Hotel Room. The champagne has been present since then.
He also enjoys a bottle of Dom Pérignon next day with Rosie Carver.

The first bollinger in Bond, Live and Let Die
In The Man With the Golden Gun (1974), villain Scaramanga’s butler offers a Dom Pérignon ’69 to James Bond to welcome to his Private Island.
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) saw Bond saying about Stromberg – “Any man who drinks Dom Pérignon ’52 can’t be all bad.”
Moonraker (1979) was a major Bollinger outburst with two moments where he is seen savoring it; once in the airliner and then in Holly Goodhead's hotel room with a rather cheeky dialogue,” "Bollinger! If it's '69 you were expecting me!”.
He tries a Ghulwine, which is a version of Mulled wine from Germany with Aris Kristatos at the ice-skating rink; in For Your Eyes Only (1981).
Octopussy (1983); Octopussy played by Maud Adams pours herself a glass of Bollinger Tradition R.D whereas bond enjoys a Vodka Martini.

Sir Roger Moore Movies
Timothy Dalton (1987-1989)
In the Living Daylights (1987) gifts a Bollinger to General Koskov in the Harrods hamper who exclaims “champagne Bollinger R.D the best!!” and is seen having some Jim Beam poured to him by Felix.
He also orders a bottle of Bollinger R.D 1979 as he arrives to his suite with Palm Bouvier in License to Kill (1989).
Pierce Brosnan (1995-2002)
In Golden Eye (1995) a bottle of Bollinger La Grande Année 1988 can be seen installed in the built-in cooler of Bond’s Aston Martin DB5. James Bond is also seen enjoying a dram of Jack Daniels with M at her office.
One of the most liked drinking scene from almost all bond movies sees Bond in a white shirt, open bow tie and shots of Smirnoff Red from a bottle with a vintage label.
In The World Is Not Enough (1999), Bond and Elektra share a bottle of Bollinger La Grande Année 1990 in Elektra's palace room.
Die Another Day (2002) shows a shabby James Bond ordering Mr. Chang in the Rubyeon Royal Hotel, a Bollinger ’61 in is usual suite. Only time he is seen enjoying a Mojito as well, while watching Halle berry coming out of the ocean,

Pierce Brosnan Movies
Daniel Craig (2006- 2021)
He joined the franchise in 2006 and has been rocking it since then, Casino Royale (2006).
He orders for a Mount Gay Rum with Soda before winning the Aston martin DB5 form Mr. Alex Dimitrios
In the next scene you would see Bond wooing Mrs. Dimitrios’s to his room and orders Bollinger La Grande Année 1990 with caviar.
His first dinner with Vesper Lynd was accompanied by a bottle of Château Angélus, Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion '82.
The movie saw Vesper being concreted as a cocktail.
Bond- Send the Barman over please.
Barman arrives……
Bond- Dry Martini.
Barman- Oui Monsieur.
Bond- Wait…… 3 measures of gin, 1 of of vodka, ½ a measure of Kina Lillet; shake it over ice, then add a thin slice of lemon.
A cocktail order doesn’t get better than that!!
Quantum of Solace (2008) had Bond drinking 6 vesper in a flight.

James Bond: Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace
In Skyfall (2012), a bottle of Macallan (I think 12 years old) can be spotted just after the scorpion shot. We also saw Silva and Bond drinking a rare Mccallan 1962, Silva says “50 year old Macallan, A particular favorite of yours I understand. What’s the toast, to the women we love”. Also celebrates 50 Years of James bond on screen.

James Bond : Skyfall
James Bond is seen enjoying a Macallan 18 years old in his apartment in Spectre (2015). Is also later seen enjoying a “vodka martini….dirty” with Madeleine Swann in the train.
In Spectre and No Time To Die; the love for Château Angélus continues. A 2005 vintage is said to be present in both of the movies. In Spectre, it is seen in the train car scene with James and Madeleine Swann; believe me it takes to be a proper wine snob to find that bottle in the scene where Léa Seydoux is looking so beautiful.

No Time to Die, shows the wine lover side of Q; who keeps a bottle of Angélus on his dining table while waiting for someone special and being interrupted by Bond and Moneypenny. Well needless to say James opens the bottle and serves for Moneypenny and himself. if I were Q, I would have fought James for doing that.

Well, there are countless more mentions of fine alcohol in the movies. If not a Special Agent, Mr. Bond can make an amazing Beverage Connoisseur; can make it his retirement plan as well.
For all you Bond collectors out there, worth collecting right!!
As a fun activity try finding the current prices of the bottles…
